Stella Bass celebrates the birth of Ella Fitzgerald
The 25th April marks the birthday of the great Ella Fitzgerald, dubbed the First Lady of Song. Discovered in an amateur contest, she would become America’s top female jazz singer for more than 50 years. She won 13 Grammys, sold more 40 million albums throughout her career, and worked with all the jazz greats, from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Nat King Cole, to Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman. Her multi-volume "songbooks" on Verve Records are among the treasures of American song.
Join singer Stella Bass, and her band, for a special birthday tribute performance to Lady Ella; the concert will feature favourites such as "Cheek to Cheek", "Summertime", "Lady is a Tramp", “All The Things You Are” and many more, as well as the title track from Stella’s own recently-released album, “Too Darn Hot”. www.stellabass.com
