Mick Hanly - Still Moving Hearts!

    Doors open 9pmTickets €13/€15

When Mick Hanly penned “Past The Point of Rescue” little did he know that it would take him to Nashville, Tennessee where Hal Ketchum would take it on to the US Country singles and album charts and remain there for weeks; now a standard sung by all where country music is played. Mick formed “Monroe” with Michael O’ Domhall of Bothy Band Fame around 1973 and later would go on to replace Christy Moore in Moving Hearts by far the most innovative and exciting Irish bands ever where the classic song ‘All I Remember” became the anthem of the eighties; the title of  the “Hearts” album and now a classic song of the Christians Brother’s role in Irish education. Christy would even go on to record it himself on his “Time Has Come” album!
Mick has played with all the greats including Matt Molloy, Declan Synott, Paddy Glackin and toured with Andy Irvine after the demise of Planxty! After that he returned to form his own band “Rusty Old Halo” when the likes of Mary Black were singing and recording his troubadours songs. At this point “Pass The Point Of Rescue” had become the most played and most requested song across 2500 Country music stations in the US making Mick Hanly an international star and respected songwriter. Garth Brooks would say “His songs are real, they mean something, he is one of the best song writers around”...Catch him here on October 9th. Miss him at your peril!
