Evenings & Weekends

Live Arts Entertainment – Full Bar & Barista Menu

The Hot Spot Music Club specialises in those acts that are a little too big or a little too unique  for your average pub rock gig! It has played host to many a special night, with the likes of Hozier, Scullion, Andy Irvine, Declan Sinnott, Kila, Mary Coughlan, Freddie White and Tir na nOg sharing the stage with local luminaries such as HueGrass and The Universal Funk Orchestra. Hot Spot Music Club crosses all musical divides from gypsy swing to contemporary Spanish flamenco.

Both a weekend cafe –  you won’t want to miss our free Sunday afternoon jam sessions, where anything from tubas to ukeleles can help make your lazy day that little bit hazier – and a latenight venue, The Hot Spot Music Club has the look of a speakeasy and the feel of a naughty house session that’s getting just a little out of hand.

It’s also the perfect venue for your own private party or event, with full PA, DJ booth and dancefloor.

Email hotspotmusiclubg@gmail or phone 087 2917519 for further info, or go to our EVENTS where you’ll find out what’s coming up over the coming month. It’s the sort of venue that your couch will forgive you for cheating with.

Come to listen or to play. All jazz instrumentalists and singers are welcome. This is a great opportunity to play with other jazz musicians or just come along and watch. Please arrive early to sign in and ensure that you get a chance to play. To take part, you need to be able to play at least one tune and then improvise over it (jazz standards like those from the Real Book series - iRealPro app).

Piano, drum kit, mics, amps are in the venue although musicians are advised to bring their own amps and music stands. This is a regular jazz jam session  to develop, encourage and bring together the jazz community in Greystones, Wicklow and beyond.  Further information call Dara MacMahon 086-8146926

The Hot Spot Music Club proudly salute The TRAVELING WILBURYS (Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff  Lynne & George Harrison) with an evening of songs from the artist's careers solo & combined.

The Hot Spot SUPERGROUP of Wilburys include James Delaney, Colm Quearney & Graham Hopkins (Square Pegs), Peter Moore (Raindogs, Wandering Harries) and special guests Chualainn.

The Traveling Wilburys - A brief history: Mid-1988. Cloud Nine was just out. George, along with cowriter Jeff Lynne and their friends Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison, had been hanging out in Dylan’s studio. I suppose George figured that as long as his pals were on hand, why not use them to knock off a flipside?

A couple of days later George came by my office to play the new “B-side.” We went next door to A&R head Lenny Waronker’s office so he could hear it too. George played us “Handle With Care.” Our reaction was immediate. This was a song we knew could not be wasted on some B-side. Roy Orbison’s vocal was tremendous. I really loved the beautiful guitar figure that George played. The guys had really nailed it. Lenny and I stumbled over each others’ words, asking, “Can’t we somehow turn this into an album?” (I also had a suspicion that perhaps George had been hungering for another band experience.)

Once the idea of a full, collaborative album was in front of us, George took over. The five frontmen (Harrison, Lynne, Petty, Dylan, and Orbison) decided not to use their own names. George and Jeff had been calling studio equipment (limiters, equalizers) “wilburys.” So first they named their fivesome The Trembling Wilburys. Jeff suggested “Traveling” instead. Everyone agreed. And so it was born!

Virtuoso guitarist and singer Niwel Tsumbu, and percussionist Éamonn Cagney embark on an Irish tour previewing and premiering new music from their upcoming album release.  Both intimate and elaborate, expect a musical river flowing whose sources range from classical to Central Africa and way beyond.

10 years ago the duo released their debut album “A Long way / Nzela Molayi”, and they have since travelled the world, working with Liam Ó Maonlaí, Michéal Ó Suilleabháin, Afel Bocoum (Ali Farka Touré), Iarla Ó Lionáird, Ma Xiaoue (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), The Abbey Theatre, Donal Dineen, and collaborated soundtracks, opera, and countless other musical forms from contemporary music to traditional dance.

Over a year in the writing, their exciting new music will be premiered on this Irish spring tour, before the album release and international performances in 2018.

“This duo had a cataclysm of moods and moves to share, unveiling a cavernous stash of redemptive music, and promise of much more to come.” Irish Times

Top Irish Authors say why they like Pierce Turner:

Joseph O’Connor; “Pierce Turner is a storyteller, soul man, poet, heartbreaker, with the voice of a choirboy high on rocket fuel. His songs sound like nobody else's. A true and beautiful and utterly unique artist”

Kevin Barry; "For many a strange moon, Piece Turner has been creating some of the most indescribably odd and luminous and beautiful music anywhere - for the Old Weird Ireland, he is something close to a national treasure."

Eoin Colfer; “Pierce Turner’s lyricism has had a huge influence on my writing. He is a one of a kind genius poet. I wish I had never heard him so I could listen for the first time. Pierce is the only songwriter I know who has made me laugh and cry during the same song”

Liam Fay; “Like his songs, Turner’s live shows are spellbinding: his grip on an audience is so tight he leaves fingerprints.”

Billy Roche : “Ray Davies meets Brian Wilson with a little pinch of James Joyce and you have it - the sublime taste of Turner!”

The Catfish Blues Orchestra is a truly unique musical experience. Comprised of some of the finest blues
talents based in Ireland today, the band consists of two electric guitars, bass, drums, vocals and
harmonica. The addition of a brass section makes for an 8 piece band that produces a truly powerful
sound. No two shows are alike and this band must be experienced live to be fully appreciated.
Driven by a love of authentic blues, the group’s influences range from the early delta masters such as
Robert Johnson & Sonny Boy Williamson, to the Chicago and Texas electric blues masters Muddy
Waters and Freddie King. The Orchestra is heavily influenced by Rory Gallagher and British blues
invasion guitar gods such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green in addition to more contemporary artists like
    Robben Ford and Derek Trucks.

The Orchestra combine these influences and crafttheir own rich and soulful blend of rhythm & blues.
