Singer-songwriter Hank Wedel was born in The USA in the 1960's, grew up in NYC and Mallow, Co. Cork in the 1970's, lived for awhile in NYC in the 1980's and 1990's but is based in Cork City... For those of you who were at Bob Dylan's B'day gig at the Hot Spot in May of this year, Hank was the main man! He is well known for his involvement in the live music scene in that city, and, in the past, with bands such as "Princes Street" and "Open Kitchen", as well as a long-standing Monday night residency at Charlies Bar, Union Quay with mandolinst Ray Barron... Hank has also performed with Irish music legends Kila, Declan Sinnott, Shane McGowan and Bono.
Irish folk-singer legend Christy Moore recorded Hank's song "Listen"and made it the title track of his best-selling 2009 album on Sony records. In 2012, Hank released a single entitled "Mighty Fine" written and performed by Hank and produced in Dublin by Larry Hogan. “Mighty Fine” was Hank’s first ever release on iTunes It made it to No. 4 on the Irish iTunes singles charts within two weeks of release. GREENSHINE is a family trio comprising Noel Shine, Mary Greene and their daughter Ellie. Their material straddles the boundaries of contemporary, folk and roots and includes many self-penned songs. Their fast picking and close harmonies are a treat to the ear. Noel is a multi-instrumentalist, turning his hand to guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki and traditional whistle and this musical dexterity had seen him much in demand as a session and band player by artists as diverse as The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and funk and soul legends The Republic of Loose amongst many others.
Mary brings rhythm guitar to the mix and her voice is a wonderfully versatile instrument. She has added her talents to the albums of Christy Moore, John Spillane, Mick Hanly and Frances Black as well as cult psychedelic outfit Dr. Strangely Strange. Ellie Shine has grown up surrounded by music and has been performing in concerts and festivals since the age of 13. She has a huge interest in the songs of the Muskerry Gaeltacht and reached the All-Ireland final of Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann's Sean-Nós Singing competition in her debut try-out. An insightful lyricist and powerful live performer, Jack O’Rourke began 2016 in the manner in which he finished 2015 – a growing national profile with TV and radio appearances and critical acclaim, alongside the first tracks from his approaching debut album. His song 'Silence' was chosen to soundtrack the Amnesty yes campaign in the marriage referendum, he has appeared on The Late Late , Sold Out his first Dublin headline show and recently picked up a 1st place award at The International Songwriting Competition,( http://www.irishexaminer.
com/lifestyle/artsfilmtv/ music/jack-orourke-wins- prestigious-international- songwriting-competition- 397320.html )
His songs speak of various human conditions with melodic flair, through young but wise eyes. There already have been flattering comparisons with the likes of David Bowie and Rufus Wainwright, but Jack has been determined to find his own voice amid a plentiful sea of influences – to ensure it is the unique qualities he possesses that he becomes best known for.
“Every nook and cranny of The Other Side of Now is filled with harmony, rhythm and melody. The E.P. is crafted, both ‘Shining For You’ and the title-track move in great dynamic sweeps that showcase O’Rourke has total control over the sound, knowing when to rein it in or unleash it in equal measure. What’s more, the E.P. sounds exactly like the type of record Jack O’Rourke wanted to make, and you can’t say fairer than that. Rating: 9/10” — The Last Mixed Tape
“Jack O’ Rourke’s music has a grace and a glory to it that will stop you in your tracks and make you forget where you were going! “Silence” is one of the songs of the year for me.. “I’ll Forget You In The Morning” took me away too .... Beautiful honest songwriting delivered with a transporting musicality that will take you there... wherever you are going!” — Fiachna O' Braonáin, RTE Radio 1
“Silence is a modern rebel song. The song is truly beautiful. It the change that happened in Ireland” — Cerys Matthews, BBC4 - The Great Irish Songbook, 2015
“Cork singer with oodles of soul, blues and jazz, all wrapped up with a striking modern pop bow” — Jim Carroll, The Irish Times

“One of England’s best kept musical secrets” Rolling Stone
“One of the finest songwriters in Britain” The Independent
It started back in 1995 when Peter signed to Almo Sounds, where his label-mates included Gillian Welch and Garbage. He made two albums for the label: Cannibal and Camelot in Smithereens. Grammy-winner Peter Smith (Sting/Squeeze), who produced Pete’s debut Cannibal, still cites it as “one of the top 3 records I’ve worked on”.
In 1999 Peter signed to Slowriver/ Rykodisc and released Normal For Bridgwater, a record that was to be his biggest commercial success to date which won him wider acclaim in North America. Rather than reproduce the Americana feel of Normal For Bridgwater, Peter’s restless musical spirit has seen him strike out in new direction with almost every subsequent album. By 2005, The Independent were calling him “one of the finest songwriters in Britain” His 2009 Loose album Peter And The Murder Of Crows is filled with psychedelic drones and mellifluous tunes; the album found reviewers and fans alike comparing him with Nick Drake and John Martyn. It was one of Q magazine’s ‘Albums Of The Year’ and was an ‘Americana Album Of The Month’ in MOJO Magazine.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the grandson of Irish railroad workers (who seemed to be in the habit of leaping from trains), Jeff Finlin is a fascinating, unique artist. His career has taken many twists and turns.
He began with wanderlust, traveling America using every form of transportation, with the exception of rickshaw (still on the bucket list). Having played in bands in Boston, Ohio and L.A, he finally wound up in Nashville with long-time mate and Academy Award nominee Gwil Owen (“A Softer Place to Fall”) to form the rock band “the Thieves”, which released the acclaimed “Seduced by Money”, produced by Marshall Crenshaw on Capitol Records. In 1993, he went on to produce the self-released “Lonely Light” before going on to produce the Little Dog/ Mercury release, “Highway Diaries”. The Chicago Sun Times said: “FINLIN writes with the minimalist grit of Sam Shepard and Raymond Carver – tune in and you will hear an elusive magic.” Next it was on to New York, where Jeff incorporated the likes of Mark Ribot (Tom Waits and Elvis Costello) and Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan), to produce “Original Fin”, which was released on BMG/Gravity in the UK and Ireland and NBFNY in the U.S.
Music Row called the record: A do it yourself piece of musical brilliance – Simply manna to the literate songwriter’s soul.” Uncut called Finlin – “A real find.”
Clive Barnes is a guitarist, singer and songwriter of rare quality. Clive has released four studio albums to date the latest of which The Ghost Country garnered rave four and five star reviews with previous album Welcome To Farewell winning Album of the Year in US publication Acoustic Guitar. Clive toured consistently throughout the US and Europe as a solo act and also as lap steel guitarist with the likes of Eric Bibb, Joe Cocker and Taj Mahal. He has toured as opening act with Jeff Beck, Alison Krauss, Gary Clark Jr, David Crosby, Dr. John, Greg Allman, Solomon Burke, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Seasick Steve, Rodrigo Y Gabriela and many many more. RTE’s Harry Guiren noted in a review of Clive Barnes performing at Vicar Street, Dublin, “Clive is a guitarist who can make one acoustic sound like six. Barnes transported the entire, hushed venue across the Atlantic to where the paths taken by the Delta Blues, Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen all led to his own special territory.”

Tir na nOg have been described as Alt Folk, Prog Folk, Psych Folk, and even Space Folk!. But the duo, formed by Leo O'Kelly & Sonny Condell in 1970, transcends all these categories. What is not in doubt is that they are two of the most original and influential songwriters and performers Ireland has ever produced.

John Blek is constantly proving himself to be a prolific writer of some of the most beautiful folk music being created today, both solo and with his band John Blek & the Rats. It is less than 12 months since the band released their last record and already John is ready to share his latest work “Cut the Light”. He has just announced the release of his highly anticipated second solo album entitled “Cut the Light”. This sophomore outing will be hitting shelves and online stores on the 30th September 2016.
The album was recorded in Bantry, West Cork, Ireland over a period of four days in early spring. A collection of eleven original contemporary folk songs carefully crafted and documented with the help of Davie Ryan (Drums), Brian Hassett (Bass Guitar) and Brian Casey (Producer). With a sound that harks back to that of Bert Jansch and Liege & Lief era Fairport Convention, “Cut the Light” is likely to become a favourite amongst both new listeners and existing fans.
“Cut the Light is an album I have wanted to record for quite a while. I pushed myself to become a better instrumentalist and songwriter on these songs and really focused on creating a collection of pieces that could live together on a cohesive album. It’s something I’m very proud of...…. “ John Blek
The album is being put out independently in Ireland on John Blek and the Rats own WARR label and through Tonetoaster Records in Germany.
