The Hot Spot Music Club specialises in those acts that are a little too big or a little too unique for your average pub rock gig! It has played host to many a special night, with the likes of Hozier, Scullion, Andy Irvine, Declan Sinnott, Kila, Mary Coughlan, Freddie White and Tir na nOg sharing the stage with local luminaries such as HueGrass and The Universal Funk Orchestra. Hot Spot Music Club crosses all musical divides from gypsy swing to contemporary Spanish flamenco.
Both a weekend cafe – you won’t want to miss our free Sunday afternoon jam sessions, where anything from tubas to ukeleles can help make your lazy day that little bit hazier – and a latenight venue, The Hot Spot Music Club has the look of a speakeasy and the feel of a naughty house session that’s getting just a little out of hand.
It’s also the perfect venue for your own private party or event, with full PA, DJ booth and dancefloor.

Mick Flannery realised a long time ago that - "at the end of the day and the heel of the hunt, you’re left with the songs. Everything else comes and goes – the shows and the tours and the applause and the acclaim which goes with them, the prattle and the palaver which accompany an album release. Everything else fades out of view. Everything else doesn’t matter in the long run.
But the songs remain. The songs you write on your own stick around. They’re going to be here for many years to come so they deserve to be treated with due care and utmost respect in the creation process."

We Raise Bears bring their unique sound to The Hot Spot as part of an upcoming Irish Tour. We Raise Bears’ music has continued to gain critical attention, with BBC Radio recently attributed it with having "such a uniqueness in sound, a character, a confidence and an intelligence as well". Their now recognisably poignant and political lyricism has been described as “stunning” (Dublin Concerts).
In November 2016, the band released a well-received debut EP, which gained airplay across BBC radio, RTE radio 1, 2FM and TXFM, as well as on Irish and UK regional stations. We Raise Bears have performed at festivals that include Hard Working Class Heroes, Other Voices, Canalaphonic, Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Ones to Watch and regional arts festivals. They have delighted in headlining at venues around the country and also in sharing stages with acts like We Cut Corners, Cathy Davey and Conor O’Brien. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a5b7AyBqCk
“Beguiling…new band for potential future hit parade” - Jim Carroll, The Irish Times
“Definitely a band to keep an eye on, they immediately stand out from the crowd” - Chris Jones, Music Journalist
"We Raise Bears manage to create a new sound that is thoroughly their own" - Dee Reddy, TXFM
Sat29Jul2017Doors open 8pmTickets €8 - €10Buddy Mondlock writes songs. He does it so well that some great songwriters have recorded his songs on their own albums. Guy Clark, Nanci Griffith, and Janis Ian, to name just a few. You might have heard his song “The Kid” (recorded by David Wilcox, Peter, Paul and Mary and Cry, Cry, Cry) and maybe even sung it yourself around a campfire. He draws you into his world - where a single snowflake follows the trajectory of a relationship, where you get you pocket picked by a Roman cat, where you might swim over the edge of the world if you're not careful and where dreams that donʼt come true still count.

Uzizi finds it's inspiration in the beats and melodies from Ireland to Bulgaria, from the Appalachian Mountains to the Middle East, and back around again. They sometimes incorporates an early form of American music called sacred harp, or shape-note singing into some of it's repertoire. Sacred Harp's earliest roots are traced back to the country parish music of early 18th century England.

Celtic Soul are a 7-piece band band from Bangor delivering a very fine tribute to Van Morrison with excellent musicianship, authenticity and heart.
Receiving critical acclaim from devout Van fans wherever they perform, you’ll hear the big hits like Jackie Wilson Said, Days Like This, and of course Brown Eyed Girl. You’ll also hear Ballerina, Cyprus Avenue, and In the Garden among many others in a packed show.
Several live ‘unplugged’ performances on Gerry Kelly’s show on BBC Radio Ulster have boosted the band’s following. BBC’s Ralph McLean, a massive Van Morrison fan himself, describes Celtic Soul as ‘a great band’ and ‘a very fine tribute’. With more years than they care to remember playing in blues, folk, trad and jazz bands these musicians have the ingredients to combine and deliver Van’s music in an outstanding show. Doors open 8pm. Show starts at 9pm sharp. Note: The first 20 tickets are €14!
Fri27Oct2017Doors open 8pmTickets €16* - €18With each successive album, Luka Bloom digs deeper and gazes wider… he is on top form.– The Irish Times **** 2016 Review of 'Frugalisto'With a poet's heart and a rockster's soul, Luka Bloom is regarded as one of Ireland's most respected contemporary folk artists, having produced over 20 albums since the 1970s, Bloom continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do.
A master interpreter, Bloom has continued to balance original songs with reinventions of tunes by a diverse range of songwriters. Like many who write songs, Luka's orchestra of choice is the guitar. What makes his career a little different is his constant search for a new voice within the guitar. The guitar is the landscape on which the song is created, and he is forever probing that landscape for new inspiration. No effects, no gadgets. Time, effort and a whole lot of love bring forth new voicings within the instrument, and bit by bit, the songs come to life. And eventually they fly, bringing Luka with them to be heard in Byron Bay, San Francisco, Hamburg, or even Doolin. Almost 40 years since recording his first album, Luka Bloom comes to The Hot Spot Music Club with his latest album 'Frugalisto'.
